Matthew Doyle
Analyst
Matthew Doyle holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class honours in Philosophy and a subsidiary in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University. His academic work includes a focus on the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, highlighted by his honours thesis on the ethics of the AI alignment problem.
Currently, Matthew is a research analyst at Higher Education Strategy Associates, where he provides support on qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis for projects in areas such as academic planning for master’s business programs and micro-credentials. He has also been involved in the AI Observatory’s research database and institutional policy projects focused on AI’s impact on education. His research interests lie at the intersection of technology and legal policy, particularly their broader implications for social institutions and the post-secondary education system.
Previously, Matthew served as the Vice President of External Affairs for the St Francis Xavier Students Union and chaired the Board of Directors for Students Nova Scotia, where he led significant advocacy efforts and policy reviews and secured substantial financial aid packages for students. His work in student governance and political advocacy has been recognized with multiple leadership and advocacy awards.
