YITS Cohort A - Skills and Knowledge

• This module contains information on students' performance score in Reading, Mathematics, and Science. Also included is information regarding to student's ability and familiarity of using computer. Links to related code books are provided at the bottom.
• PISA assesses the skills and knowledge of 15 year-olds in three domains: reading, mathematics and science. Reading ability assessment includes three subscales: the retrieving subscale, the interpreting subscale, and the reflecting and evaluating subscale. For each domain of PISA assessment, and for each subscale in reading, two kinds of estimate are provided: a weighted likelihood estimate (WLE) and a set of plausible values (PV). The plausible values represent a set of random values for each selected student at random from an estimated ability distribution of students with similar item response patterns and backgrounds. They are intended to provide good estimates of parameters of student populations, rather than estimates of individual student proficiency, which are better estimated using the WLE. • Data of this module are collected in cycle 1 when students were 15 years old. PISA performance scores are derived from written assessments designed by the OECD Program for PISA. Computer familiarity and ability information comes from the PISA student questionnaire. None of these information are re-collected in the following up surveys.
